When I first stepped into leadership, I believed technical expertise was the key to being an effective leader. However, I quickly learned that organizations are living and complex systems and that leading them demands much more than just technical know-how. A few years back, I only viewed delegation as a way to offload less critical tasks and free up time to focus on more strategic work.
Coupled with the fear of losing control and the need to be in the driving seat, I rarely delegated.
